Birmingham (2-0) enters today’s game as one of three undefeated teams in the Alliance of American Football. Atlanta (0-2) is playing its first home game at Georgia State Stadium, formerly known as Turner Field.The Iron has relied on a strong defense so far, getting the Alliance’s lone shutout in the season opener and limited Salt Lake to nine points last week.
Former Alabama running back Trent Richardson leads the Alliance with three rushing touchdowns, Quinton Patton ranks third in the Alliance in receiving yards, and quarterback Luis Perez ranks fourth with 436 passing yards.
The Iron have placed defensive back Jacob Hagen, defensive lineman Josh Frazier, tight end Connor Davis and defensive end Lawrence Okoye on injured reserve. Hagan was carted off the field last week with an ankle injury.
Tight end Wes Saxton, tight end Colin Thompson, defensive back Christian Bryant and defensive end Ulric Jones have been signed to the active roster.
